Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Glossophobia.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our website. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
- Information you give us: when you use our contact form or leave a comment, you provide your name, email address, and message.
- Information collected automatically: like most websites, we and our service providers collect technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device, pages visited, referring site, and the date and time of your visit, using cookies and similar technologies.
Cookies and consent
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them to keep the site working, understand how it is used, and show ads. When you first visit, a consent banner (Real Cookie Banner) lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your choices at any time through the banner settings link, and you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The banner stores a cookie recording your consent choices.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. To learn more about how Google uses data when you use partner sites, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info. In some regions, ads are shown only with your consent, and non-personalized ads may be shown otherwise.
Analytics (Google Analytics via MonsterInsights)
We use Google Analytics, set up through the MonsterInsights plugin, to understand how visitors use our site, such as which pages are popular and how people find us. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as pages viewed and general location. You can prevent Google Analytics from using your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Jetpack
We use Jetpack, a WordPress service by Automattic, for features such as site statistics, security, and performance. Jetpack may collect information such as IP addresses, browser data, and pages visited to provide these services. See Automattic’s privacy policy for more details.
Contact form (WPForms)
When you submit our contact form (built with WPForms), we collect your name, email address, and message. Your submission is emailed to the site owner so we can reply, and may also be stored in our website database. We use this information only to respond to you.
Comments and spam protection
When you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form (name, email, optional website, and your comment), along with your IP address and browser information. To fight spam, we use Antispam Bee, which checks comments locally on our server without sending your data to an outside service. Approved comments and your name are visible publicly.
Login security
To protect the site from break-in attempts, we use the Limit Login Attempts plugin, which records the IP addresses of failed login attempts on our login page.
Embedded content
Articles may include embedded content (for example, videos or social media posts). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that website, and those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only with service providers that help us run the site (such as our hosting provider, Google, and Automattic) as described above, or when required by law. Some of these providers’ use of cookies for personalized ads may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under certain US state laws; you can opt out using the choices described in this policy.
Data retention
- Contact form messages: kept only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping, then deleted.
- Comments and their metadata: kept indefinitely so they can stay published, unless you ask us to remove them.
- Security logs (such as failed login IPs): kept for a limited period.
- Analytics and advertising data: retained by Google according to its own retention settings and policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the European Economic Area, the UK, and US states such as California, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct or delete it
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent at any time (for example, through the cookie banner)
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights
To make a request, please contact us. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Where GDPR applies, our legal bases for processing are your consent (for non-essential cookies and ads), our legitimate interests (running and securing the site), and responding to your requests.
Children’s privacy
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
